The Center for Law and Social Policy's work is concentrated on family policy and access to civil legal assistance for low-income families. Family policy projects include welfare reform, child welfare, and couples and marriage.

CLASP focuses on a "Marriage-Plus" perspective, which has two main goals centered on the well-being of children: (1) to help more children grow up with their two biological, married parents whose relationship is healthy; (2) when this isn’t possible, to help parents--whether unmarried, cohabiting, separated, divorced, or remarried--cooperate better in raising their children.

The Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples Education (CMFCE), Smart Marriages, is dedicated to making marriage education more widely available to the public. The Coalition serves as an information exchange and clearinghouse to help couples, professionals, clergy, and lay educators to locate marriage and relationship education courses, training programs and resources that promote the effectiveness of marriage education courses.
In addition, CMFCE Smart Marriages supports community marriage education initiatives, legislation and research that will promote the effectiveness of marriage education courses and increase their availability in the community. |
